Yankees edge Blue Jays by 2

The New York Yankees got a tough win over the Toronto Blue Jays yesterday at Rogers Centre with the Yankees victorious 5 to 3. It was a huge win that rooters with cheap Yankee tickets online aren’t likely to forget.

Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte (4.35 ERA) got the win, while Roy Halladay (2.75 ERA) took the loss for the Blue Jays. Andy Pettitte went 6.2 solid innings for the Yankees, allowed 4 hits, no home runs and one earned run with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts. Also pitching for the Yankees was Phil Hughes (3.66). The Blue Jays’s starter Roy Halladay went 9 innings, allowed 10 hits, 3 home runs and 4 earned runs with no walks and 5 strikeouts. With the win, Pettitte’s record goes to 9-6, while Halladay drops to 11-5. Mariano Rivera earned the save for the Yankees, bringing his saves up to 31.

In addition to the 5 runs, the Yankees put up 10 hits and committed no errors. It wasn’t a huge day for anyone at the plate for the Yankees, as nobody managed more than 2 hits. The Blue Jays didn’t have anyone with a big night with not one batter getting more than 2 hits. Jose Bautista could not get much going at the plate as he left 4 runners on base. The Blue Jays mustered 3 runs, 9 hits and one error.

Umpiring duties were performed by Jeff Kellogg, Rob Drake, Mark Wegner and Tim Timmons. There were 33,669 Blue Jays ticket holders in attendance at Rogers Centre.

The win puts the Yankees at a record of 64-42, at the top of their division, while the loss brings the Blue Jays to 51-55, (13 games behind the division leader). The Blue Jays will try to get a game back from the Yankees tomorrow. There are still plenty of tickets available so take a look.
